About the C1D visa

A C1/D visa is a non-immigrant U.S. visa issued to crew members who are traveling to the United States as part of their duties on commercial sea vessels or international airlines.

Breakdown

  • C1 Visa (Transit Visa): Allows a person to transit through the U.S. en route to another country.

  • D Visa (Crew member Visa): Specifically for crew members (e.g., flight attendants, pilots, ship crew) who are working on vessels or airlines traveling to the U.S.
Often, crew members are issued a combined C1/D visa, since they may need to transit through the U.S. (C1) before joining a vessel or aircraft (D).
